It was okay.
We’d hiked from Willingen and were heading on to Winterberg, and the proprietor offered us a shortcut without us even asking. That kind of thoughtfulness really stood out. They seem to understand what guests need and get ahead of it. Our booking for 11 people was no problem despite the coronavirus pandemic; we sat at two tables. The cake 🎂 was very good, and the coffee ☕ was tasty too.
This bakery was awful. I stopped by Monday morning at 8:20 hoping to pick up breakfast rolls, but there was nothing at all, just bread left over from Saturday. They still charged €2 for it, and it was so hard it couldn’t be eaten. It might as well have sent me straight to the dentist for dentures.
The inn is in great shape, and the food is always plentiful and excellent. My family and I come for four days every winter, and it’s a highlight of the year each time. It’s a lovely place for all ages, with a family-friendly feel, a great atmosphere, and lovely people and staff. Well worth visiting, even if you just stop for a delicious pastry ; )
We got a very warm, helpful welcome after hiking all day in the rain. The rooms aren’t modern, but they’re spotless and very well maintained, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Breakfast was plentiful and had a huge selection, with nothing missing.
