We had a wonderful week, and the landlord sorted out the issues we had quickly. Our dog enjoyed both the apartment and the garden, with no restrictions. The landlord’s son lives upstairs, but we weren’t disturbed. Part of the garden is shared with him, his wife, and child, which shouldn’t be a problem with a well-behaved dog. The ground-floor apartment is in a modern house and feels luxuriously furnished. In our view, it’s best suited to up to three people, including a dog if you like. Several lovely walks start right from the door. Usseln-Willingen is 12 minutes away, Winterberg 18 minutes, and Lake Diemelsee is a 20-minute drive and well worth a visit. There are supermarkets in Usseln and Medebach, about 10 minutes away. The village itself has no shops, and its two restaurants aren’t currently open on a regular basis. We really can’t understand the one-star review from the tenants who stayed a week before us. Anyone who can’t enjoy this place should book a 5-star hotel.

The apartment itself is modern, functional, and nicely furnished. The problems were outside: the terrace opens onto a shared garden with the landlord, without any separation, and the neighbors are right there too. The landlady said the dogs’ behavior would be monitored, and they weren’t allowed on the small 1.20 x 6m patch of lawn in front of the terrace. There was also a construction site about 200m away as the crow flies, with circular saws. If the fully loaded 30-ton concrete mixers racing up the dirt road in second gear from 7am to the other farm construction site weren’t enough, the noise would start at 8am anyway. This was our last horrible vacation at Anspel 25.

The landlady was very nice, and we’ll definitely return. The apartment is cozy, tastefully decorated with little details, and has everything you need. It also has a beautiful setting and a fantastic view.
