Representative City Villa

We had no heating for all eight days in the basement apartment. The bathroom had no window, and without heat it stayed damp and developed large patches of mold, even with the ventilation running and the door open. A heating company employee came by after the host said someone would investigate, but he used a second key to let himself in early that morning instead of ringing the bell. He said a part was defective and he couldn't fix it then. When we contacted the host again, the issue was ignored. There were several other problems: the shower drain was blocked, the windows couldn't open properly because of the curtain rod, the toaster was broken, and the curtains had large, unpleasant stains. The second toilet lock was hard to open from inside. Motion sensors in the hall and kitchen were triggered by people sleeping in the living room. The extractor hood light didn't work, the pressurized fire extinguisher was unusable because it had no pressure and was missing its safety pin, and the living room TV's set-top box was defective, making it unpleasant to watch. The host handled booking changes quickly and easily before we arrived, but this was my first and last stay with Tolstov. The final straw was being told we couldn't use the advertised parking space on the property because the laundry service regularly needed the garage. I can only advise against staying at Tolstov. If we can't agree on a refund with the host, I'll seek my money back through Airbnb.

The whole house was very well cared for, and everything was spotless. The apartment was bright and lovely, with a supermarket right across the street. Check-in was easy and contactless with the key box, and the host was available and helpful throughout. We also got free parking. The balcony is great, though it’s naturally more useful in summer than at this time of year. The kitchen was clean and had what we needed. I’d happily recommend it for either a short or longer stay.
