Wyndham Garden Düsseldorf Mettmann

The food was good, but the service made me feel unwelcome. We came to the dining room at 8 last night for a drink, and the staff seemed more focused on chatting with each other than taking orders. By the time anyone came over, we'd nearly finished eating. There were no smiles, and I've stayed in plenty of hotels, but this had the worst service I've experienced. If you stay here, expect no service and no smiles. Our room's window wouldn't close all the way. The one person who was friendly and smiling was the man with a ponytail at reception yesterday evening. He did a great job and deserves a big raise. The rest of the staff should look up what service means. It seemed like guests were just a nuisance and the staff couldn't wait for us to leave. Why keep a hotel open if you don't like having guests?

For the price, I think this place is absolutely worth it. We stayed a couple of nights for an event in Essen and didn't spend much time in the room. It was fairly small, and the lighting was quite dim, but the value was incredible. Reception was open 24/7, and we had no trouble speaking English. Breakfast wasn't amazing, but it covered the basics: eggs, bacon, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries, and so on. I honestly don't understand the low rating.

On the outskirts of Düsseldorf, this is a good hotel with clean, tidy, quiet rooms. The breakfast was decent, the beer was good, and the staff were excellent.

The rooms were quite comfortable, and the location is good, very close to Düsseldorf city center.
