GS Hotel Geiger

The rooms were clean, and breakfast was pretty good for 10 Euro, but the wifi was painfully slow. We stayed four nights, and the beds weren’t comfortable. Taking a shower was quite an experience, too. If you’re arriving late, arrange it in advance. You may need to call the office because the code they give you might be wrong. Also, if you miss housekeeping, you’re left using your towels again.

I left at 1am because the room was so awful and uncomfortable. Honestly, the back seat of my car was better than this hotel. Nobody seemed willing to help us get inside. The woman who worked there was sitting outside and only helped after I asked several times. Never again.

We rented an apartment at GS Hotel Mindelheim from 03.2020 to 06. 2021. Life in Mindelheim was wonderful, and I loved the city. Some colleagues at GS hotel were nice, but the problems we had were really disappointing. I’m sharing this in the hope it helps others avoid the same situation, especially anyone considering a long stay. Our contact person would only offer a 3-month contract, saying this was for the hotel’s tax benefits. That short contract didn’t protect tenants well. We signed for a 3rd-floor apartment because of the view, then found out two days before moving in that it had been rented to someone else. We were told only a 2nd-floor apartment was available, as the others were rented out. The contract also promised monthly cleaning at no extra cost for a long-term “hotel” apartment. No cleaning was provided unless we asked, and then it happened only once. We were told any further service would cost 40 EURO each time. We gave the hotel a month’s notice of our departure as the contract required. Ten days before leaving, we arranged to meet the responsible person to ask about cleaning. She didn’t show, so we cleaned the apartment as best we could ourselves. We left on 26.06 (Sat.) and called her to inspect it. She agreed to come at 17, but we waited until 17:30 and she still didn’t appear. On the phone she then said she’d already left, told us to leave the key at reception, and said she’d check on Monday. We did that and left. When we called on 28. 06 (Mon.), she hadn’t checked yet. On 29. 06 (Tue.) she still hadn’t. On 30. 06 (Wed) she told us to ask her colleague in Munich. That colleague said there were some problems with the apartment, but still asked for our bank account details. We heard nothing more until 21.07. Then the colleague in Munich said there were lots of problems, including a broken mirror and a defective bathroom floor, and that repairs meant they couldn’t rent it out for a while. I believed that was a lie. Before we left, a hotel colleague had brought two young men who wanted to rent the apartment on a tour, and they were taken directly into our room without even removing their shoes. It seemed to us the hotel hadn’t found new tenants after we left and was using our deposit to cover the empty room. We never received a cent of the 1600 EURO deposit. To me, the missed inspection seemed like a trick: they didn’t show up on time, knowing we were in a hurry and couldn’t keep waiting. Once we’d left, we had no say. Two months and 10 days after leaving, we still hadn’t received any bill or invoice for the 1600 Euro in any form.

A simple, clean, good place. The bed was comfortable and the shower had strong pressure. Breakfast was fine, with a decent choice of continental items.
