The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and both the hotel and food were lovely. The suite was in a separate building across the main street, though, so going back and forth was very cold in -2 degree weather. There was no heating in the suite, and the hot water heater under the sink was broken. We spent more than an hour in the morning trying to sort out the hot water, with no chance to take a warm shower before a long flight. At 150 euros, these problems should have been checked before we arrived. We’d booked the hotel, so the least we expected was for the room to be checked and for the front desk to explain it to us. It’s a cute place, especially in summer when the beer garden and kids play area are open. The suite, hotel, staff and food were otherwise fine, but check everything in the room as soon as you arrive, not at 6am.

The restaurant food is great, especially the fantastic Black Angus steak, and there’s a nice selection of pralines. This is a charming little old hotel with its own unique style, set more or less in the woods. The rooms are small but fine, and the bathroom was nice. It’s only a short drive to the motorway.

We used to have some excellent dinners at this restaurant in previous years, but things have changed a lot. Before heading back to the USA, I was looking forward to white asparagus. It was overcooked and tasteless, and the hollandaise tasted canned. Our guest ordered hers with smoked salmon, but it wasn’t smoked and tasted canned too. It was inedible. We complained and heard nothing from the chef. We won’t be back.

The smell of BBQ cooking was so tempting. Such a lovely spot to sit back in the sun with a fresh beer and enjoy a sunny spring afternoon 😎
