The breakfast had fresh coffee and two eggs fried nicely, though the fruit was sad and the bread and Brötchen were stale. Since I was the only guest that night, the owner’s constant hovering made me uneasy. It was a quiet night, but I could see how noise might bother some people. The room was small but comfortable, even though for a moment I worried the rickety bed might collapse beneath me. The bathroom was especially clean, and I could adjust the temperature easily. I was also able to dry my handwashing, which matters for hikers and pilgrims. The house itself is beautiful, but I left thinking a B&B isn’t for me. There’s a strange mix of being physically close to people and emotionally distant.
