Bad Sonnenland

We left early after a terrible night and a disappointing response from the campsite staff. A wedding on the grounds played loud music until around 3 or 4 in the morning, despite the site's quiet-hours rule starting at 23:00. When we complained the next day, the receptionist said the space had been rented out and they weren't responsible. There was no one at the desk after 17:00 to contact, and she couldn't tell us whether more events were planned, even though they were on the campsite's own grounds. Hundreds of campers, many with children, couldn't get a proper night's sleep, and management seemed not to care. For one of the more expensive sites near Dresden, we expected better hygiene and more consideration for guests looking for a relaxing holiday. The grounds themselves are spacious and well located, but the facilities are lacking. There is only one toilet block for so many people, and it was very dirty by the middle of the day. Toilets and showers share the same building, which makes it noisier and colder, especially with people leaving the doors open.

Getting around was easy, with good public transport and bike routes, and the site is well placed for Dresden, Moritzburg, and the surrounding area. The camping grounds are very spacious too. On the downside, the service felt unfriendly, there are many abandoned homes in the park, and the lake didn't seem safe for swimming in summer because of the algae.

The house at the campsite was full of vermin, which I don't consider acceptable. We paid almost 300 euros for two nights, and when I asked for our money back, they offered just 50 euros as a tip. That wasn't acceptable. Think carefully before staying here. Jo Van Schoors, België

You can swim in the large lake, and the facilities are good. The location is handy too, with the old town and a bus stop just around the corner.
