The hotel itself is very nice, and I’d recommend staying there. The restaurant is a different story for us. During the Valentine's meal, it felt disorganized, with a few oversights and mistakes. We were ready to leave halfway through the two-hour dinner, to be honest. If we come back, we probably won’t eat there.

The staff were a real highlight, especially at reception, with the breakfast team, and the bartender, who made a very good original Negroni, stirred not shaken, with fresh orange zest 😋. The rooms are lovely, cosy, quiet, and nicely decorated, and the breakfast buffet was exceptional. The restaurant and bar are a plus, with a nice garden and terrace. We recommend ordering à la carte for the bigger selection. We didn’t try the Spa because it was a sunny weekend at 28° C, though we heard that it’s very nice too. What more could we need?

Breakfast was pretty good, and the dining room staff were friendly and helpful. Beyond that, the service and facilities left a lot to be desired. We arrived with bags and weren’t offered help, including on the stairs. The next day we asked for an overview of the hotel and where the amenities were, but got confusion and a “what do you need to know” response. At a large property, I expected someone to explain where things are. The top-floor room seemed rather small, which was okay, but the lack of air conditioning made the nights unpleasant. The wine tasting was boring, especially if you’re already doing other tastings nearby. Don’t expect lunch before 3pm, and you have to ask for the menu. The young man working there was friendly and helpful, but there were only four options. If you drive an electric car, you can’t charge it here. There’s a charger down the road or a Tesla super charger within 20km. I’d suggest turning one of the many dining rooms into a lounge. There are about four dining areas, most sitting empty, and nowhere comfortable to relax indoors. Come to the Mosel for the wine and scenery, but I wouldn’t choose this hotel. There’s a beautiful hotel across the river in a historic building for slightly more per night.

The staff are lovely, but seem powerless to fix the problem. Bedroom temperatures hit 30°C at night in June, and the hotel did nothing about it despite charging so much and being rated 4*. If they can’t afford or justify retrofitting reverse cycle cooling, surely they could at least provide fans for guest rooms. I’ve been more comfortable in $2/night rooms while backpacking through Central America or SE Asia. Owners, please help your staff and your business. In the meantime, guests should avoid staying here in summer or winter.
