We stumbled across Kramers Haus Brünemann after getting lost on the way to another restaurant, and it turned out to be a lucky detour. The small-town setting by a little lake is really pretty and quiet. Sitting outside, you can hear water running through the big waterwheel, which makes for a cozy feel. Inside, it has a nicely decorated, classic German gasthaus look, with lots of seating that would work well for a larger group. Nearly everyone ordered the house schnitzel, while one person chose the steak. Everyone was very happy with the meal. The schnitzel was just the right thickness, crispy and juicy, with good sides and such generous portions that none of us could finish. The steak was tender and juicy, cooked the way it was requested, and that diner was pleased too. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We had a really good experience, and I’d come back if I’m in the area.

The menu is reasonably priced and worth a look, with plenty of regional produce. Prices are on the higher side, but still quite affordable. It’s a cozy country inn with a polished atmosphere and a lovely outdoor terrace. For a refined meal with good wine in pleasant surroundings, this is the place.
