Gasthof Im Kohl

Good food, and a nice, inexpensive place.

The relaxed atmosphere and easygoing service are a big part of why we've kept coming back to Gasthof Kohl for dinner over the past several years. We come from Lüdenscheid, and the food is simple, tasty, and very good value. The new staff especially impressed us. A young, very friendly and committed employee looked after us brilliantly, both with the superb filet steak and open-faced sandwich and as a host. That level of service isn't something you can take for granted, especially in North Rhine-Westphalia. We felt right at home and hope to see you again soon!

I've eaten here on and off for years, but after yesterday I won't be back. We waited more than an hour, and the meal was a real letdown. The schnitzels were tiny, more like nuggets, and so thin you could taste mostly breading. The bitter, flavorless salad and greasy hash browns didn't help, and the sauces were unappealing and too sparse. Now I've got stomach problems and will probably have to call in sick. I've had enough.

We keep coming back, especially on Wednesdays for the "little piggies" special. The schnitzel is freshly made, really tasty, and you can choose how you want it. The staff are lovely and attentive, particularly the young man who's been there recently.
