Breakfast comes with the room, but it’s very minimal. The rooms are tiny, the beds extremely hard, and there’s no A/C, kettle, or fridge. You can open the windows, though there’s a noisy road right outside. Very disappointing, and I won’t be back.

I was going to give five stars, but changed my mind after staff came into our room despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign being clearly up. That’s a serious privacy breach. We sometimes leave personal belongings out, including clothes and valuables like gold. We work in tourism and understand how hotel operations should work, so this kind of oversight from an establishment isn’t acceptable.

The hotel is in a safe area, with the tram about a five-minute walk away and easy access to the institute and downtown Dusseldorf. The staff were friendly, and everything was very clean.

The room was really clean, and although breakfast was simple, I liked it. But the bed and pillows weren’t comfortable, and the curtains let in a lot of light. We could hear everything from the corridors because there was so little sound insulation. They also didn’t come to tidy the room or change the towels, which was a first for me at an ibis hotel. One person at the front desk couldn’t speak or understand English well, which was a bit counterproductive. I’d seen earlier reviews calling the room depressing, and I can see why.
