Average at best. The manager impaled me with his spike arm, and his constant evil laughter didn't help me sleep either.

We paid for two nights through booking.com but left after one. Our room, number 10, faced a really busy street, and on a hot summer night we had to keep the windows open. Cars and trucks went by nonstop, and people were loudly talking and shouting at night, so we couldn't sleep. There's no fan or air conditioning, which made the noise unavoidable. The next day we asked to move to a room on the other side, but the receptionist offered an apartment that cost more and no compensation for the first night. This was one of the worst rooms in the hotel, with the street noise and lots of stairs to deal with luggage. The reception was very unfriendly when we arrived. Instead of welcoming us, the woman lectured me for not checking my email or texts for the six-digit room door code, after I asked where to check in. After a long trip, that was not a nice welcome. The parking was full, so we had to find a space on the street, even though the hotel's car was in the parking area. There's no breakfast service either. The nearest bakery is a mile away, or 1.3 km, and we decided to leave for good after the first night. The woman was finally in a good mood when I called to tell her we'd left, despite paying for two nights. Other things made the stay unpleasant too. The shower door was so poor and difficult to open and close that I first thought it was broken. We needed showers after sweating in the heat. A strange screen on the wall couldn't be switched off, so the room never got dark when we wanted to sleep. There's no elevator, and we were on the third floor, the second floor in Europe, with lots of steps and luggage. A kind man who was a friend of the owner helped carry our bags. The Greek restaurant was nice, and the waiter was kind and attentive. I won't come back or recommend this hotel.

The location is secluded, at least 40 minutes from Düsseldorf Hbf by public transport, and doesn't make the price feel justified. The room was extremely expensive for what it offered, more like a cheap motel than a three-star hotel. For the same money, you could get a good room at ibis at Düsseldorf Hbf. The furniture looked at least 30 years old. The attic room was tiny, with a slanted ceiling taking up about half the space. I kept hitting my head and arms on the wall while in bed. The bathroom door hit the toilet seat whenever I opened it, and the old shower doors were flimsy and awkward. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and the smell seemed to cling to the walls, curtains, and bedding, despite a card warning that smoking would bring a fine. It was somewhat clean, but there were spider webs everywhere, dust and hair on the bathroom tiles, and smelly towels. It felt like the owners had forgotten about the place and were just collecting money from the rooms. I only looked at the Google reviews after seeing the room, and there were lots of bad ones. The owners seemed to make excuses for each. The owners' photos also seem heavily edited, photoshopped, or taken from very flattering angles.

The bathroom smelled awful all the time, and the cleaning service was no good. The minibar didn't work, so everything I bought spoiled. When I raised it with them, they just ignored me. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Very nice atmosphere. The owners are sweet and caring. I forgot a few things, and they were quick to help me out. I'd highly recommend it.
