We moved into one of the older apartments this year, and the beds are a complete disaster. They need replacing urgently, since even the slightest movement makes the bed squeak. Some of the furniture is pretty rickety too. The walls are also so thin that at night you can hear the neighbors talking or walking around as if they were right next door.

The worst problem was how dirty the apartment was when we arrived: dead flies on the windows, spiders in the corners, and hair throughout the bathroom. The COVID-19 hygiene rules and hand sanitizer were clearly laid out on the table, which made that even more striking. We contacted the landlord, but reaching them by phone was very difficult, and email was the only way to get through. Someone eventually came to clean after about two hours. Before then, we'd taken the smelly vacuum cleaner ourselves and dealt with the worst of the dirt. The shower drain was completely clogged with old hair and soap scum. We cleaned it ourselves so we could shower without flooding the whole bathroom. The beds smelled old and musty, and the stink woke us in the night. The doors in the converted attic are only about 140 cm high. Young people can manage, and you eventually get used to it. The landlords already have a bad reputation in town, including in public forums. We only got the spa cards we'd booked as part of the overall price on the fifth day, after a difficult struggle. Luckily, the ladies at the information desk took pity on us. I absolutely wouldn't recommend this vacation rental.

It was only a short walk to the beach and shops, and the little apartment had everything, including a good bed and modern furnishings. The downside was that the entrance is right beside the bedroom. On warm nights we naturally kept the window tilted, and could hear other people coming home late every night. Next door was also being renovated, with noise starting every morning at 8 a.m. Was that really necessary in peak season?

The apartment in the Baltic Sea Residence was fantastic, beautifully and tastefully furnished, with everything you could need. I loved relaxing on the terrace or barbecuing, and the beach chair in the small garden became my favorite spot. The beach is an easy 5-minute walk away. Pelzerhaken itself is quiet and manageable, without too many crowds or high prices. There are shops for everyday needs and plenty of places to eat out. It really couldn't be better, simply wonderful!

Clean, bright, quiet apartments, furnished beautifully. The beach isn't far away.
