I still stand by my original one-star rating. Your dismissive replies to my review and to other guests when you disagree with them only reinforce my impression that you and your “staff” are arrogant. At checkout, your husband’s behavior brought one of our female friends to tears at the hotel entrance. I never received a personal apology by email for that or for the other problems. Calling it a minor misunderstanding doesn’t fit what happened: we were charged an outrageous extra amount just for bringing back five empty glasses, on top of everything else. I also found it absurd that I couldn’t choose where to sit for breakfast in an almost empty restaurant, so I won’t say more about that. About the ride to the restaurant, you’re right that the hotel offered a transfer after we asked about public transport. But it was a branded bus from the hotel and winery, not a private car, and your reply left out that we had to pay for it. There was no need to stop us from driving, as you suggested. We’re responsible adults and don’t drink and drive. The wine tasting was self-service. There were open bottles on tables in two rooms, with short paper descriptions of the vintage, grape variety, and so on, and no staff member there to explain anything. As I said, I only had one glass because I was having a nice conversation with my friends in the garden. Unless they somehow learned to be in two places at once, they couldn’t have “abused” the wine. When I went to pour what would have been my second tasting, the way you spoke to me was rude, disrespectful, and completely out of proportion. As for housekeeping, the room notice says cleaning starts on the second day for sustainability reasons. I still don’t see why making the beds daily would be unsustainable. Changing sheets every day isn’t necessary, but I expect to come back to a tidy room with the bed made when paying €200 a night. That didn’t happen. We stayed three nights and nobody cleaned the room at all. Please explain this policy when people book, so they can decide whether they’re willing to pay that rate and sleep in an unmade bed each night. I’m writing this follow-up because I couldn’t reply directly to your response to my earlier review. I want to clarify what happened so future guests can make an informed choice.
