The service was very friendly, and the wine list has some lovely local finds to go with that fantastic lake view. Still, this visit didn't live up to my memories of all the family meals and special occasions we've had here over the years. The restaurant has been extensively redone, and now feels cold compared with the cosy gravel Biergarten it used to have. We ordered starters and mains, but none justified the price. My Maultaschensuppe had a bland broth and a small serving, while the goat cheese salad was much too large. I'd never seen two discs served as a starter before. The Maultaschen with egg wasn't what we expected and isn't a traditional or local speciality. Entertainment was provided by a British guy on guitar. His playing was okay, but the singing made us cringe and want to leave. Locals generally say the quality is hit and miss. At 92 EUR for two courses plus wine, the place has to meet the standards of people who regularly eat at high-end restaurants.

They were ready to help even before we arrived, answering questions about transport and the surrounding area. The whole stay felt like a home away from home. It was a really amazing experience, and I'd definitely stay there again.

The breakfast was good, and the hotel is very close to the lakeside. But there was no elevator, so getting my luggage up the stairs was really difficult, and the Wi-Fi was very slow.
