Alpaka- & Ferienhof Neukämper

Apartment 1 was roomy and had good equipment, but the oven was filthy and the bathroom badly needed a deep clean. The three alpaca paddocks had no grass, which we found unacceptable after visiting many alpaca farms. The lawn looked like it hadn't been mowed for ages, the barbecue area was dirty, and the seating couldn't be used. The whole farm seemed untidy, and the online photos look quite old. We can't recommend it.

You can really leave civilization behind here and just enjoy the quiet, far from everything. Familie Neukämper run the farm with so much love and dedication, and they're genuinely warm people. We loved it enough to plan on coming back next year. One thing to keep in mind: the nearest supermarket is 8 km away, so you'll need a car or a bike. You can rent a bike cheaply on site.

The spacious apartment and peaceful setting were the only parts we enjoyed. We booked five nights, but left after four because there wasn't enough to do, and the place was a complete disappointment for us. If alpacas are being promoted as a holiday attraction, there should actually be alpacas to see. Our “highlight” was paying €25 per person to feed them one or two portions of hay inside a makeshift wooden pen. That's outrageous, and surely longer-stay guests could be offered a cheaper option. In bad weather the alpacas weren't around at all, despite the huge barn with decent-sized shelters. I'm not including photos of the dilapidated outdoor area. The barbecue spot in the middle of the enclosure could have been a good idea, but it was badly done. Even getting past the bag of branches and pruning shears that were there from the start felt like a challenge without breaking something. We absolutely don't recommend the place, and can't understand its overall Google rating.

The apartment was a dream, everything looked brand new and was spotless, and we've never had one like it. Breakfast was generous, the hosts were friendly and attentive, and the alpacas were an extra treat. The 4-star rating is absolutely fair, maybe it deserves 5! The location is unusual, right by the dike and sea, between Greetsiel and Norddeich. There aren't crowds, and prices are very reasonable, maybe even a bit too low. We had a wonderful, unforgettable stay and will be back. Family W.
