This place is centrally located and close to the beach, so it may suit people who aren't too concerned about cleanliness or amenities. We were there with the whole family over Pentecost weekend, and the state of the apartment was revolting. It was extremely dirty, with dead woodlice everywhere. At night, live ants showed up and carried the dead ones away, like their own little ecosystem. It might almost have been funny if it weren't so disgusting. There were honey waffles from the previous guest stuck on the wall, food scraps in the kitchen utensils, and little piles of sand in the hallway. We told the landlady, who was polite and thanked us for pointing it out, but she wasn't willing to compromise. The furniture was old, and the children's bunk bed was practically falling apart, so nobody slept in it. If you expect more than a basic place, you'd probably be better off looking elsewhere.

The soft pillows made up for everything else, at least for me. I barely slept, though.

Each apartment has one parking space. The stairs up to the upper apartment are very steep, as is the way into the room upstairs. Apartments 1 and 2 might also work for guests with limited mobility.

The location is fantastic, close to the beach but still quiet. We loved the well-kept little garden, especially sitting under the apple tree when the weather was nice. The ground-floor layout suited our family with two children perfectly, with two separate bedrooms and a separate toilet. The apartment itself was a big disappointment, though. It looked freshly renovated at first, but we found it filthy and full of 1970s-era fixtures. The new doors didn't fit the old frames and took force and made noise to open or shut. The toilet door couldn't be locked, though it and the apartment door were the only ones that worked properly. The apartment door was just a standard interior door with a lever key, and the building's main entrance also had to be locked to prevent break-ins, which could be a problem in a fire. The bathroom door is a wobbly folding/sliding door, and one mirrored cabinet door won't close properly. The toilet faucet is loose and there's no towel rack. The heavy feather pillows have collapsed and are disgusting. Both bedrooms have curtain rods but no curtains, and one is missing the light switch cover with the wall crumbling nearby. The electrical system has far too few outlets, and the bathroom fixtures, radiators, and kitchen are all completely outdated. If you like cassette tapes, you can try the old recorder, though its radio switch is missing. It felt like the owners were cutting corners on quality and leaving guests to deal with it. They said guests had ruined the new wooden dining table, when it just needed an initial treatment. When I raised these issues, they simply insisted the apartment was fine.

The landlord was friendly, but the apartment is very old and furnished to match. Its amenities didn't meet our needs, and there's no dishwasher. A plain interior door is used as the apartment entrance. The front door is locked and can only be opened from inside with a key, even in an emergency, and there are no smoke detectors. The shower and bath area is perhaps 2.5 square meters. It might suit fans of the 70s, but we felt the price was out of proportion to what was offered. This season we moved back to Nordmeerstraße, where we rented a whole house that's modern and has everything you need, just like home, for €100 less per week. So take care when renting.
