Hotel Meeresburg

We were in a one-and-a-half-room apartment in the apartment building. Several windows opened onto a gorgeous sea view, and the room was clean and very nicely furnished. The bathroom was fantastic, with a rain shower and plenty of storage space. We'd happily return, provided the entry system works next time. We had trouble getting into the building twice after 10 p.m., and once had to call the hotel's emergency number. It seems access was restricted after that time, when entry required a key card that wasn't working. Being stuck outside in the freezing cold at night was really unpleasant. The TV also switched itself on during the night and woke us.

The staff and breakfast service were very good, but we won't stay here again. The place feels dated and doesn't seem particularly suited to young people. The bathroom isn't designed for accessibility. There is a sauna, as the description said, but it's in a run-down room with a broken shower and nowhere to cool down or get a drink. We expected more. It would also help to have a lockable room to leave luggage in before the final departure.

When storm conditions caused ferry cancellations on our departure day, we had to stay for several extra hours. Reception immediately offered us the use of the swimming pool for the day and supplied towels. They also kept us updated on the weather and ferry times, which was great. Service was very guest-focused, accommodating, and friendly, apart from one person at the breakfast buffet. Our children were always well looked after too. The building has both hotel and apartment sections, right on the seafront in the first row. Rooms were very clean, though the furnishings are showing their age. The pool and sauna are available in the afternoon. Breakfast is included and has a wide selection, though the rolls could be better.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and breakfast was plentiful and really good. Our room was OK too, though anyone determined to find something to complain about probably can. Thanks again, we'd be glad to come back.
