Riverside Hotel

The breakfast buffet was generous and decent, and it was included in the price. That was the main bright spot. We stayed as a couple to visit family nearby, but the details felt neglected for this price range: cheap shower gel, worn furniture, and breakfast tables left uncleared. The bed was the biggest problem. I woke after three hours with back pain and couldn’t get back to sleep. In my opinion, both the mattress and frame need replacing. I mentioned it to reception the next morning when someone was there, and they thanked me for letting them know. I wouldn’t stay here again on our next family visit.

The breakfast buffet had just about anything you could want, enough to make you wish you could eat more. Our room was huge, clean, and had a comfortable bed, though the dark interior is a matter of taste. This was my third stay at Riverside Hotel, and the service was outstanding again. Thanks to the whole staff! We had another wonderful getaway at Riverside and will surely return. I’d happily recommend it to friends travelling around here. :-)

Getting a bike and parking right out front were handy, and the peaceful spot outside the city is a real plus. The rooms were okay for the price, though the prices felt like those of a 4-star hotel. The place has potential, but on a first visit you need a guide for everything because little is explained and you have to ask. Breakfast has lots of choices, but none of the cheese, jam, fish, bread, or other items are identified. There’s plenty of time for breakfast, though the candles and fireplace in the morning left me needing fresh air. You’re also expected to be quiet and careful because frequent guests seem to get some sort of advantage. The upstairs sauna was small and only 50°C, so it didn’t feel like a proper sauna.

The rooms are nice and spacious, and breakfast was great. The restaurant has an interesting, varied menu. The fish was too salty for me, but the creamy lobster soup was amazing.
