Novotel Nuernberg Centre Ville

It’s less than a five-minute walk to the Main Station, and an easy 10-15 minutes on foot to the old town center. Our room was comfortable and spacious, with large opening windows and views over parts of Nuremberg. The service was excellent throughout.

Everything else about the stay was great, but the breakfast room staff need better allergen training, especially around vegan food. They couldn't tell me which items were vegan, and seemed to confuse vegan with gluten-free, which is a completely different dietary requirement. There was a big plaque on one counter saying staff were allergen trained, yet I had to ask them to show me packaging and explain that the muesli and even the oats were vegan. They had been telling me they weren't. Please train staff to check ingredients instead of assuming something isn't vegan just because the pack doesn't clearly say “vegan.” If there are no animal products in the ingredients, it is vegan. Another common mistake is treating “may contain milk/eggs” as proof that food isn't vegan. Possible cross-contamination doesn't change whether the ingredients are vegan. It was really disappointing not to know what I could eat at breakfast, especially since I've worked in the food industry for years and stay here for Biofach every year. I hope you can fix this. We spent three days here over the Advent holidays. The old town is about a five-minute walk away, and the rooms were comfortable, modern, quiet, and well equipped. Breakfast was plentiful, with staff continually topping things up. It was great to have the wellness area open until 10 pm after evening tours. One thing to keep in mind: this is a child-friendly hotel. Children may be jumping into the water during wellness time, and breakfast may not be peaceful if that bothers you.

The location worked well, and both the room and its cleanliness were acceptable. But the stay was still a major disappointment. I had prepaid through the Accor app for a non-refundable Executive Room, then was told on arrival that none were available and I’d be given a Standard Room instead. I’ve never had that happen after paying for a specific room type. Checking out brought another problem. The staff member was rude and unprofessional, and couldn’t give me an invoice for my company. He said he’d email it later, but didn’t. I had to send several follow-up emails to get even a basic invoice. This fell well short of what I’d expect from a Novotel, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.
