The reception staff were very friendly and everything was handled quickly, which is why I’m giving two stars. But the parking situation doesn’t make sense to me. My family recently moved from Aalen to Oberkochen, and we wanted to rent the space that a previous tenant had used before canceling their contract. Like the other spaces there, it had cost €15. We found a space through a newspaper ad when we registered, but the new price is €30. I told the woman in charge by phone that this seemed like a lot, since garages in Aalen cost around €40, and that’s for a garage, not just a parking space. She told me to find a space in Aalen myself, which was a bit cheeky. It makes no sense to park in Aalen when we live in Oberkochen. €30 for two square meters of asphalt, or €360 a year, is too much.

These five stars are for the staff at the Citizen Service Center/Registry Office. I especially want to thank Ms. Lisa-Marie Wachtel. She’s always friendly and helpful!

I’ve lived in Oberkochen for nearly all my life, and I feel the city keeps getting worse. The town center used to have lots of shops and restaurants, but there’s hardly anything left. We once had roads that were easy to drive on. Now it feels like I’m driving down a dirt road into the center. The latest example is closing the local indoor pool to save energy. They built a new indoor pool for tens of millions without taking on debt, and at the same time collect a lot of trade tax from large corporations. How does that add up? Other municipalities keep their pools open and still offer something to their residents. It would fit the pattern if the Christmas lights were switched off this year too. I hope I haven’t started another brainstorm with this. Please start thinking differently and listening more to the residents. This review isn’t aimed at the town hall employees, who are all very nice and helpful, but at the so-called decision-makers.
