The staff were friendly and attentive whenever I needed help, and the breakfast buffet had a great range of fresh, tasty options. My room was spacious, very clean, and had everything I needed. Hotel Oberstdorf also has stunning mountain views and a peaceful feel. It was a lovely base for relaxing and exploring the Allgäu region, and I’d recommend it to anyone after a quiet break with great service and views.

The saunas are good, but the wellness pool is so cold in winter that it feels more like a plunge tub after a cold sauna. I’ve found it that way every time, and even when I get in, I have to get out after a few minutes because I just don’t adjust to it. There’s a small hot tub too, though it’s almost always full in the evening.

There are four saunas in the spa, but only one actually gets properly hot. Even in that hottest one, they only do two events a day, and the staff just came in, tossed the ice onto the stove, and left without saying anything. The food, though, was really good, and the buffet had so many delicious choices.

This is my second visit, and I love the resort. The spa is incredible, and it’s in such a beautiful spot. Dining costs a bit more, but I think it’s worth it. There’s lots of hiking in the region, and live music in the evenings is a nice extra.

The best part for me was the bike rental. Guests can take a good quality e-bike for free for a day, and I really enjoyed riding around the surrounding mountains and villages. You can rent one free each day. The restaurant was great too, with a large buffet and tasty food, and the staff were very friendly. The bar has plenty of seating with really comfortable chairs, plus live music on Saturdays and Sundays. The outdoor pool isn’t very big, but that wasn’t a problem, and there’s a large spa and wellness area. Our clean room had a good view. The shower head was a little worn, but that was my only complaint.
