The owner was very friendly and helpful, making room for everyone, including our dog and our sleeping child. We had a delicious, authentic German meal, and the red cabbage reminded me of my grandmothers' cooking. Highly recommend a visit. I'm looking forward to going back.

We found this charming, rustic restaurant through the Schlemmerblock and managed to get a Saturday evening table at short notice. From making the reservation to leaving, the owner was friendly and attentive, and we really enjoyed the service, romantic atmosphere, and excellent food. The menu is short, with a few starters, mains, and ice cream for dessert. There are also three-course set menus at reasonable prices, with something for everyone. The portions were just right, and everything was tasty and well-seasoned. It's open on Saturday evenings and for lunch and dinner on Sundays. For Sunday, it's best to book about a week ahead. We'll be back!

Our first weekend in Essen left us absolutely delighted. The host was very, very nice, and the food was freshly cooked and incredibly delicious. We especially liked the menu selection and the three-course meal. They also brought a complimentary amuse-bouche and dessert. We'll gladly return and definitely recommend it.

At €23, that schnitzel was far too expensive. The meat on ours was only about 3 to 4 mm thick, while the breading was so thick it seemed about one and a half centimeters deep. I got the impression the owner was working alone and cooking for himself.
