The shower was tiny, and in this attic apartment it seemed suitable only for someone no taller than 175 cm. I was in apartment 8 on the second floor for work. There were no coffee cups or toilet paper, the windows were filthy, and the only frying pan was badly scratched. There was nothing to wipe surfaces with, and the curtains weren't nice either. The stairwell had gone nine days without being cleaned.

We come here for Lake Obing too, and the lido is fantastic. The apartment was modern and just right for our week away. Being able to pair it with the hotel was a real bonus: we had excellent dinners each evening in the lovely restaurant and spent several relaxed evenings on the terrace with a good glass of wine.

Everyone was friendly, but the apartment next door wasn't clean either. Ours was older and only partly renovated, and it hadn't been properly cleaned. With two children who have allergies, that was awful. We had it cleaned again, with little improvement. There was no wardrobe, the doors squeaked, and the bed linen had patches, something we'd never seen before. It seems the focus is on the newly built hotel. Update: We would have noticed a wardrobe if there had actually been one!

The place is simple and clean, and we'd happily stay again. Shops are walkable, the bathing jetty is a short walk away, Lake Chiemsee takes 15 minutes to reach, and it's an hour to the Alps. Evenings can be a little noisy on the balcony. The water-saving taps are frustrating, especially with limescale making the already limited flow worse.
