The staff were relaxed and welcoming, even with our train delayed. They showed me and my dog to our room, and the owner has a very cute dog too. It’s clear they welcome dogs, so it’s a lovely option if you’re travelling with your four-legged friend. The building and rooms are beautiful, artistic, and felt like stepping into a home from the 1400s. Everything was really clean, including the shared bathroom. It’s near the bus and right in the city, good for exploring on foot or catching a bus for a hike.

We only dined at the restaurant, we didn’t stay at the hotel. The meal was fantastic, with thoughtful, balanced flavors and textures. Even familiar desserts like affogato and strawberry ice coupe were made with quality ingredients and felt like a new experience. Service was professional and attentive to detail, and our waitress was very friendly. Thanks for a wonderful dinner. I’d definitely recommend it.

Our family reservation was handled by Markus, who also arranged a room for four so our daughters could stay with us. The price was very reasonable for the service, especially at Christmas. Thanks again for being responsive and patient. I strongly recommend this hotel.

After a bad restaurant experience on our first night in Offenburg, we were a bit doubtful about the second. But at this Sonne restaurant we had great German cooking, served by a lovely, professional waitress. First-rate food at a fair price.

I’d been to this traditional, family-run house years ago, and it still has a homely feel. The bathroom, while not ensuite, has been renovated very nicely. My one criticism was the breakfast service: the food wasn’t topped up, even though staff could see it needed replenishing, and the service didn’t feel very personal. In general, though, it’s good value for money.
