Paying was a frustrating wait: even after we called and said we were ready, it took 15 minutes. The waitresses were rude and unprofessional, and just handed over the drinks without telling us whose was whose. The service was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The staff were incredibly helpful, even with issues that weren’t really theirs to deal with. We were impressed by the dinner menu, our top-floor room, and the considerate service. Elbterrasse made an ideal stop on our long drive from Regensburg to Berlin. It’s peaceful by the Elbe river, reachable by road or car ferry, and the building’s renovation suits its architecture.

Eating outside gives you a lovely view of the water. We tried sülze, two Flammkuchen, and the farmer salad with cheese. The other dishes were delicious and generously sized, though the salad could use more cheese. The food isn’t anything unusual and portions are normal, but dinner is inexpensive compared with other restaurants.

The river is beautiful, but being right beside it meant plenty of mosquitoes and bugs, especially with no air conditioning. Still, it’s a nice place to stay if you want to get away from noise and crowds.
