Hotel Neetzer Hof

It was okay.

The house was cold throughout our stay. The hallway radiators were off and the thermostats had been removed, so cold winter air came in through every crack. The radiator in our room was too small to make it comfortable. Breakfast was basic, though things were replenished quickly. On New Year's morning there were scrambled eggs with bacon and sausage as well as the blue-green boiled eggs, but otherwise it was the usual breakfast. The room itself was okay and functionally furnished. The four-course dinner on New Year's Eve was very good. At midnight we got one glass of sparkling wine, but it was tiny, maybe 30 ml at most. The music was awful, with commercials every 20 minutes and the same songs, first too loud, then too quiet, then completely off after midnight. The owner was busy collecting payments, and it went on and on. We wanted to leave and pay the next morning, but he started insulting us, calling us names, and threatening to call the police. It felt like a bad movie, a pretty undignified finish to a mediocre-to-bad celebration. We stayed at the Neetzer Hof for four nights, from December 29, 2020 to January 2, 2026. Half-board was so-so: bratwurst, cabbage sausage, goulash, and sliced meat, all basic but tasty. The boss was awful. He made stupid remarks right when we arrived, and kept doing it every day. We've had much better hospitality. Drink prices were very high, more like a four-star hotel, while the quality really wasn't up to that level. We could only pay the bill in cash, not add it to our room. The boss was terrible at calculating and always rounded the amount up in his favor. I wouldn't recommend this place. It's a shame, because the women who served us were very kind.

The food wasn't good or filling (see separate comment). Staff were very unfriendly, especially the owner. We also saw other guests get yelled at when they briefly stopped in a reserved parking spot on arrival.
