Villa Stranddistel

A superior apartment, 3.5, in a classic first-row seaside villa. Probably the best spot in Binz. We booked through Rujana.

For a two-week stay as a couple, the "Pusteblume" apartment works well. The kitchenette is a little small, but the Baltic Sea view is lovely, and on clear days you can see as far as Sassnitz. The bathroom is well equipped. What we missed was basic information about the house and the longer-stay essentials. We only figured out gradually that the washer and dryer were in the basement, and didn't find out until day five that the bins were in a shed beside the garage. That sort of thing should be explained in the apartment, perhaps in a welcome folder.

Getting straight to the promenade in Binz is easy via a private path from the property, and there's a lovely children's playground close to the villa. We are spending our holiday in the Sommerwind apartment at the beautiful Villa Stranddistel, and it's spacious, with plenty of room to put our belongings. The ground-floor setting is a real plus for us with our two small dogs. The large window front opens onto a small terrace. Inside, the double bed in the living area is also a comfortable place to relax and read during the day. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and cutlery, which isn't always true of holiday apartments. The bathroom is well maintained and a nice place to unwind. We highly recommend it for families with children.

For our week in the 2023 high season, we paid €1167.00 including all additional costs. A service agency, not on-site, charged the tourist tax, which Booking.com hadn't made clear. Check-in wasn't allowed before 4 pm, and getting the key meant first finding a mini-safe by a garden fence at another address 200 meters away. The code arrived by SMS. The apartment's parking space is in an elevator garage, also not mentioned on Booking.com, and the signs could be clearer, as with apartment 2.2. Watch the vehicle height: I estimate the limit is about 1.6 meters, otherwise you'll need to park elsewhere. Still, thanks for providing the garage. The apartment, Pusteblume no. 2.1, is nicely and sensibly furnished, in a very quiet first-row area. It has a two-burner stove, toaster, Senseo coffee machine, kettle, fridge with a small freezer compartment, dishes, and hairdryer. The view is a drawback: although you can see the sea, most of it is the neighboring building's wall. Clever furniture placement gives you a Baltic Sea view and partly makes up for it. There's no balcony or garden access. Missing items include a large kitchen knife, a standard-size bathroom bin, and an egg piercer. The bathroom door's inner plastic coating is peeling at the bottom, and there's a small chip in the loggia worktop that could cause injury. The wall view brings this down to four stars, though otherwise it would have been five.
