The beach was lovely, with clean, fine sand and plenty of room, and there are lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. There’s also a daily activity program for all ages. But this apartment is a poor choice if you want a quiet, relaxing break. The bar stays open well past midnight, and noisy, drunk people wander around until 6 a.m. Streetlights shine into the room despite the blackout curtains, and the roadside bins are emptied from 5 a.m. every day.

We’d stayed in apartment 5 before and came back for a week in August 2025, but this time left very disappointed. The Wi-Fi was fast and steady, though the TV felt too small for the room. The living and dining area needs attention too. Chairs have scratched up the wallpaper, and the tables are heavily worn and could use refinishing. There weren’t enough teaspoons, only three, and we found chipped cups and too few wine glasses. The cutlery and dishes need replacing or restocking. In the bathroom, the shower seals leak and look grimy, and water comes up through the drain cover while showering. The heating can’t be switched off, so the windowless room gets quite warm. The sofa bed creaks loudly, and its split sleeping surface is very hard on the wall side and soft on the room side. If you move around in your sleep, you can expect back pain. We won’t book apartment 5 at Haus Strandeck again.

We don’t recommend this place. The apartment is spacious, very central, and has a huge terrace, but there’s a disco right below it. Whenever it was open at night, the noise woke us up. Parking is across town, which was a definite no-go for us with small children. Even loading and unloading was an adventure.

The area was lovely, with plenty of shops and friendly people, and we got out to see a lot of new places. We stayed in apartment 8 over New Year’s. The furniture was okay, but the place didn’t feel cozy. A radio, Wi-Fi for my son, placemats or a tablecloth, something nice on the walls, and a shoehorn would have helped. Sleep was a problem too, because of the bar next door.
