Hotel Wilder Mann

The building has real historic character, and the neighborhood is lively while the room stayed perfectly quiet at night. Everything was neat and very clean, and the staff were kinder than I’ve experienced at any other hotel in Germany.

We’ve stayed here twice, and I was able to park my motorcycle on the street outside. The hotel sits by the Danube in the same building as the glass museum. Its old-fashioned furniture and decor have a nice feel, and though we had the smallest room category, it was quite good.

There’s good bike storage inside, and the reception staff were very helpful. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a great base for walking around central Passau or getting elsewhere in the city. I found the historic Wilder Mann charming. This part of Passau is full of old buildings, and that character made it feel much more distinctive than a cookie-cutter hotel. Highly recommend.

The location is the one clear advantage. We booked a double suite, but were given a small, old economy room with tiny beds, like a room for three children. We paid a lot and had the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. When we asked for our money back, the answer was simply no. Breakfast was poor and very basic, and the place was full of very old people. I definitely can’t recommend it. We arrived late in the evening, and after the hotel couldn’t provide the room we’d ordered and refused a refund, we had to stay in the small, bad room they offered. My review isn’t discriminatory. It’s an honest account for people who care about quality and service and don’t want to feel deceived or trapped. I hope the hotel takes it as motivation to improve. Good luck.
