I wanted to review the holiday apartment in Stolpen, but it doesn’t have its own listing, so I’m leaving my thoughts here about the Kästner holiday apartment in Stolpen. We felt very at home. It was a lovely place with everything we needed, wonderfully quiet, and easy to relax and sleep well in. The contact with the Kästner family was warm and pleasant. We’d happily return to Stolpen.

After we’d booked and paid, we got a message saying a €60 cleaning fee had to be added. It was mandatory, and otherwise the reservation could be cancelled with no refund. They should tell you about this before you book. I don’t recommend it.

What a waste of time. I called first to ask if the rental was available, then sent a booking request that same day. The reply was simply, “We do not wish to accept your booking request.” When I asked why they “did not wish to,” I never got an answer.

The neighborhood is nice and quiet, and the apartment is spacious with a well-equipped kitchen. You can still get to the train station easily in about 15 minutes. I’d book it again.

The view over Pirna is great, and the location works really well for us. It’s a short walk to the ferry across the Elbe or the train station, with connections to Dresden. The apartments are already very good, and they’re continually being renovated and refurnished. The Wi-Fi is the reason I’m taking off a star. It’s very unreliable, and that really should work.
