We came to Pirna for a weekend visit with family and stayed here. Check-in was quick and straightforward, and our room was spotless with a nice balcony. Some people might find the rooms a little dated, but that fits the hotel’s style and period. The hotel is superb, and the restaurant is high quality. It was full, so I’d book a table. The menu was only in German, but the staff helped us and we had a superb meal. We didn’t get to try the Spar, though it looked nice from reception. Breakfast was perfect, with everything you could want and plenty of fresh coffee. We really enjoyed the stay. Management should be proud of the restaurant staff at both breakfast and dinner; everyone was friendly and polite.

The hotel is well located and breakfast was good. There were lots of guests during my stay, and after 18:00 parking was almost impossible. My room was so cold when I arrived that the heaters didn’t warm it up until the next day. The shower had hot water, but the sink only had cold. Those two issues are why I gave it four stars.

The restaurant wasn’t worth visiting for us. The dishes had odd flavor combinations that didn’t go together, and we couldn’t finish anything we ordered. One example was camembert with pineapple and pumpkin. The hotel is very old, though the mostly senior clientele may fit that setting. Reception was very slow, and checking out took forever.

A peaceful, very quiet place, with comfortable rooms and nice staff. The location is good for visiting Dresden, and there’s parking and a pool. The restaurant on site is very good too.
