Gasthaus & Hotel Lindenkrug

The holiday home was charming and absolutely spotless, and we’d gladly stay there again. Our host was so warm and welcoming, took care of everything we asked for, and pointed us toward some lovely nearby places.

The bathroom looked recently updated, and although the furniture was dated, the room was clean. There was a slight smell at first, but opening the windows cleared it quickly. We paid €125 for one night with breakfast during our tour of Rügen, which felt fair for the season. The host seemed reserved at first, but the next morning he was very friendly and made us a generous, tasty breakfast with fruit, vegetables, and eggs, even though it was outside the listed 8-9 a.m. hours. There aren’t any restaurants in Poseritz or at the hotel. It was a good place to recharge before the next day, and we were satisfied with the overnight stay.

I called to ask whether they were open. I got a loud “no,” then they hung up. Not okay.

I’ve only ever posted one other Google review, but this experience was so awful I don’t know where to start. A very short exchange at the door with the accommodation’s “owner” was enough to make me leave right away. I’ve never met anyone in a travel or hospitality setting who struck me as so repulsive. His hostile, disrespectful, inhumane behavior made staying even one night unthinkable. He felt so threatening and unpleasant that I would have needed extra padlocks on the inside to feel able to stay. I can see why the neighboring house is abandoned, and why the kitchen in the main house is closed. It seems no cook is willing to work with this monster for even a minute. That was an unmatched experience in the worst sense. Never again, and thanks for nothing.
