Parkhotel Pretzsch

The receptionist was exceptional, and the staff even helped us celebrate a birthday. Thanks! We couldn’t find food at the local restaurants, so we ended up getting a mix of things from the local Supermarket instead. Also, the sign on the men’s restroom is hilarious.

A lovely big buffet breakfast, plus a secure garage where we could park our bikes. We were stopping here while riding the Elberadweg, and it worked well as a convenient overnight stop. The weather was unusually hot, so we really appreciated the check-in staff making a point of finding us a room on the shady side of the building. So thoughtful!

The nice part was being near the Elbe, where the surrounding nature was lovely. The hotel itself made our stay unpleasant. When we arrived, nobody was at reception; someone only came to host us after we called a phone number. It turned out to be their rest day, so the hotel restaurant was unavailable. When we asked what to do, the receptionist acted as if it was our problem and only called a pizza place after we insisted, as though doing us a courtesy. Then, despite our email confirmation, they said we had no booking at all. Rather than help find a solution, the receptionist flatly denied it and blamed us. The attitude was unhelpful throughout.

Dinner options may be limited, so check what’s open. It seems there are only two restaurants in Pretzsch. The setting was a total surprise in such a small village, and it was perfectly quiet. The staff were friendly and efficient, breakfast was rich and included, and the price was very good for the quality.
