Ferienobjekt beim Steinmetzen

We spent eight days at Studio Amsel, two adults and a teenager, and the little balcony and lovely bathroom were highlights. The beds were wonderful, and the air conditioning was a real treat. Outside, there's a large garden with cozy places to sit, a well-kept pool with comfortable loungers, and even a BBQ if you want one. They'd thought of practical things too, like a dryer for hanging swimwear. The train didn't bother us, we could barely hear it. Restaurants are a three-minute walk away, and Kaufland is five minutes by bike. Dresden takes about 30 minutes by bike, and electric bikes are available. There's also a secure place to store bikes. Such a lovely studio in a perfect location!

The guesthouse is next to a busy railway line and a kindergarten, and a visit with children was no fun at all. We were there with our three grandchildren, aged 8 to 13, in the Steinmetz guesthouse's main building. The facilities themselves were perfectly fine: a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, and neatly furnished rooms. But the owner's behavior was particularly upsetting. While we stood safely away from the elevator, following her phone instructions, she repeatedly shouted, “Park the car in the parking lot!” My husband said he'd unpack the suitcases first, but she insisted he park immediately. We're at an age when people offer us seats on public transport, and we weren't willing to carry the luggage farther than necessary. No one offered help anyway. The next day, our two grandchildren from Dresden came by. They weren't allowed to use the pool. Then, while all four grandchildren were on the large trampoline, the owner loudly ordered them, our daughter, and our son-in-law to leave the premises: “Get out! Now!” When my husband stepped in, she yelled at him too and called him a troublemaker, the first time that has ever happened to him. The trampoline is large, but only one child may use it at a time. The sturdy swing set had no swing. Children under 14 may use the pool only with parental supervision, regardless of their swimming ability. There are 12 rules in all, some completely nonsensical.

The Christmas market is well worth seeing, just a three-minute walk away. Our holiday apartment was clean and warm, and the landlady gave us a friendly introduction to the area.

A very clean, well-equipped holiday apartment, with a place to store bicycles. The busy road and railway line nearby make it unsuitable if you're sensitive to noise.
