Pension Gut Grabitz auf Rügen

I remembered this place from six or seven years ago, when it was lovely, with a cared-for exterior, a good restaurant, and friendly staff. It's nothing like that now. For us, coming from the countryside, the surroundings just looked badly neglected. Maybe people from the city see nature here. The room had a damp, musty smell as soon as we walked in, and wasn't worth €15. They wanted almost €77 for a double room without breakfast, then asked for another €8 per person for breakfast. The bar had suddenly disappeared and was closed that very day, probably because the owner herself had raided it. We asked for our money back. We're not petty or uptight, but half the reviewers here must be out of their minds. This can't possibly still call itself a guesthouse. Definitely not somewhere I'd recommend for families with children.

If you stay here, bring cleaning supplies. I've never seen so much grime, and the rooms weren't as described. The hostess was the most unfriendly, overwhelmed, and money-hungry person we've come across. The coronavirus pandemic is surely pushing some hosts to their limits, but this place calls itself a "pirate's den" and needs to be shut down.

The TV didn't work at first. When we asked, we got an annoyed "I'll take care of it," and eventually we could watch it. That sums up the service pretty well, the word seems foreign to them. We booked three nights at short notice, and because Covid left very few options on Rügen, we had to take the "Caribbean" room. It's incredibly small, and €80 a night is overpriced. They said breakfast wasn't included, so we bought food to make our own. But the breakfast room was locked, even though we were told we could use it. Even during Covid, you have a right to breakfast. There was a kettle, microwave, mini-fridge, and two glasses, but no cutlery, plates, or cups. The landlady brought dishes when we asked, but there was still no table. We were told the room was too small for one, though I think she just didn't want to provide it. Were we supposed to eat on the floor? We ended up using a bedside table as a makeshift dining table. NEVER AGAIN GUT GRABITZ!!!

Not a comfortable stay... they say dogs are allowed, but the floor is so slippery a dog can hardly walk on it. It was pure stress for both the animal and me. And the breakfast room wasn't warm enough...
