The worst part was how the staff handled breakfast and our bags. We’d paid for the buffet and had finished about an hour earlier, but while waiting with our luggage, we tried to refill a coffee and were told twice by someone who seemed to be the manager or owner that coffee wasn’t free. The machine was broken and had to be fixed, and we were reminded again about the charge even though we were paying guests. This may be the kind of treatment non-German-speaking guests get. Getting into some rooms can also be a problem: after the elevator, there are more flights of stairs. That seems worth considering when assigning rooms to people with bulky bags or accessibility needs such as a stroller. The luggage situation was confusing. The website says there’s storage, but when we asked, we were told none was available. Yet other guests were pointed to plain-looking cabinets where bags could in fact be left. Parking was inconvenient too. You have to unload out front or carry your bags in after parking in one of several garages a few blocks away. There were good points. Our room was huge and mostly clean, and the hotel is well placed for visiting the Christmas markets. There was a small one right across the street, and the large castle market and others were only a short walk away.

I only wish I’d had more than two nights there. The room and bathroom were spacious, with strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. The hotel is in an EXCELLENT spot, with a view of the square from the window and everything I wanted to see in this beautiful city within easy walking distance. Nathale at reception deserves a special mention. I saw her at check-in and checkout, and she also answered my questions during the stay. I had a couple of unusual requests, and she was fantastic: friendly, professional, and very helpful.

The location is the main reason I’d recommend this place, along with the top notch staff, who were super friendly. The rooms were okay, though they could be more modern, and I quite liked the breakfast. We parked in the theater garage, then walked about eight minutes or so.

My room was very good, clean, and tidy, and the staff were really helpful. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, though it’s in a busy tourist area. That made getting a taxi awkward. We had to find a pickup spot about half a mile away.

Being able to walk straight out into the AltStadt was the best thing about this place. The room itself was barely maintained, the property could use upgrades, and the management staff were particularly unhelpful. They didn’t give me enough keys to keep the lights on and leave the room. I used my VFW id, but the cleaning staff took it out, replaced it with one of their own keys, and then lost it. Management gave me the run around and stonewalled me. I left and stayed on the other side of Regensburg instead of extending my stay.
