Regensburger Hof

The Regensburger Hof Stadthotel made a good impression, especially for its central location and cozy feel. We particularly liked the traditional Bavarian ambiance. In the historic old town restaurants, we got to experience Bavarian tradition and culture in a way we'd never come across before, and we loved it. We'll definitely return to Bavaria. The culture really is quite different from the north. We'd wanted to visit Bavaria for ages but didn't know where to go. Friends suggested Regensburg, so we started searching for somewhere to stay and eventually chose a hotel.

The room smelled unbearable. Looking back, we should have paid the 80% cancellation fee and stayed somewhere else. The hotel and rooms badly need renovation: the beds wobbled, the dresser was broken, paint was peeling, and the ceiling looked damp. I didn't want to know what might be underneath. The radiator was filthy, bathroom tile holes had been filled with silicone, plaster was crumbling, and some windows were opaque and wouldn't open or close properly. Even the chairs and trash can were already rusting. Staff were very friendly and helpful. After we complained about the room, they waived our breakfast, though it wasn't appealing anyway, so we went to a café.

I was there for work and found the place fairly clean and orderly. The “Hotel” Regensburger Hof is no longer operating as a hotel; it’s a refugee shelter.

The staff were great, and breakfast was excellent. I stayed for a week in 2015 and really enjoyed it. The hotel is in a good part of the city, with plenty of places to explore on foot, and it’s about a 15-minute walk from the central station.
