The staff were kind, and breakfast came with the stay. There was enough choice for me, and the fresh rolls were great. Parking was easy, with my car visible from the room, and traffic didn’t keep me awake. I picked a room with its own bathroom. The value was good, especially since Lubeck turned out to be surprisingly expensive. It’s only a little farther to drive to the Scandiline ferries. There’s a cheap gas station in the village, Opel Vick, but it takes cash and accepts only one card.

The reception staff member was rude, with an aggressive tone, when we called that afternoon to book. Several times she acted as if she couldn’t hear us, then hung up. In between, she screamed hysterically, which made it clear she’d understood everything. This gave me the impression of a third-rate place that can’t hire civilised staff. Pyh.

We’ve already booked our second stay. The breakfast was excellent, and this is a very good hotel for a stopover. Light sleepers should bring earplugs.

The station nearby makes getting around easy, with straightforward rail trips to Hamburg and Lubeck. The hotel itself was really nice, with roomy, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and a good buffet breakfast.
