Residenz Cristallo

The apartment was bright, cozy, welcoming, and tastefully furnished, and it was clean when we arrived. From the balcony, we had a fantastic view of the mountains and surrounding area. The building was quiet, with a parking spot in the underground garage and direct access from there to the stairwell. It's far enough from town to feel a little secluded, while still within walking distance of what you need. We booked the Rosengarten apartment in the Cristallo Residence at very short notice. The service was friendly, professional, and available throughout, from booking and key handover to our complaint about a dirty towel. We also appreciated being able to collect the keys from an outside safe outside the rental company's opening hours, so arrival time was flexible. Leaving the apartment swept clean at the end seemed perfectly normal to us. We can't relate to the negative reviews about the service. A few things made the stay less comfortable. The bedrooms face the street, and traffic noise was quite loud. The porch roof above the front door seemed to bounce the sound toward the windows. There wasn't much traffic overnight, but it started again around 5 or 6 a.m. The apartment also got unusually warm even though it wasn't terribly hot outside, so we could only bear it with the windows open almost all the time. Fly screens would have helped: there were just a few mosquitoes but plenty of wasps. We missed having an oven as well. That surprised us in an otherwise well-equipped apartment, especially after years of renting holiday places, but we could live without one. I'd give it three and a half stars if I could.

The place was clean and otherwise great, and the location on the main road is handy, though it gets noisy at times. Still, I wouldn't make it my first choice. For something advertised as five-star, I expected more than other similar apartments. The coffee machine was a cheap Aldi model, and its filter holder wouldn't stay in place. There were loose electrical sockets in the wall, and the bottom of the shower door seal was dirty. Garage spaces 1 and 2 are narrow, making parking awkward when the spaces are full. I'd prefer an outdoor spot to those poorly planned bays. We also couldn't arrive two or three hours early, even when we offered to pay extra. They said they didn't know whether the apartment would be ready, which was a ridiculous excuse.

We've already booked Cristallo again for next year. This was our second stay there this year, and we'd happily recommend the apartments. They're beautifully furnished and in excellent condition, with fantastic views of the Kaiser Mountains. The town center is only about a three-minute walk away.

Reit im Winkl is a lovely holiday resort, and we highly recommend the apartment. It was very nice, well-kept, and equipped with what we needed. The underground parking was great too, and the landlord was very friendly.
