The portions were generous, the food was good quality, and the prices felt very reasonable. I went to Werneths Landgasthof Hirschen for dinner with two friends, and we all had a really nice evening. The staff were welcoming from the start and attentive throughout, without hovering. I chose the mixed grill: steak, chicken and pork, with vegetables, fries, potato croquettes and sauce. The steak was tender and flavorful, the chicken juicy, and the pork nicely cooked. Crispy fries, good-textured croquettes and vegetables made satisfying sides, and the sauce was a highlight. The menu leans toward traditional, hearty comfort food rather than modern or experimental dishes, which suits the restaurant. A few seasonal specials could be nice for people coming back. There wasn't much else to criticize. I'd recommend Werneths Landgasthof Hirschen for a relaxed meal with friends or family, especially if you like generous servings and fair prices.

We were soaked after four days of nonstop rain, and the river was high enough that police had closed the path on Euro Velo 15. While searching for another route, I spotted this hotel nearby, so we cut 50 km off our ride and stayed. The owner/manager greeted us warmly and didn't mind that we were dripping water onto the floors. He let us keep our bikes in the garage and was so relaxed and understanding that we felt at home. We were grateful for the hospitality, especially since we weren't sure what we would have done without this place. Our room was quiet, clean and had everything we needed. We also tried traditional German dishes from the dinner menu. The food, service and quality were wunderbar.

We ended up staying one night in a nearby town after heavy rain, and my wife found this lovely place. The people were kind, friendly and really helpful. We had a lovely local meal in the restaurant, then an open buffet breakfast. We also noticed French visitors there.

The portions were a bit much for me as an Asian eater, so sharing might work well if you don't eat a lot. The salad dressing was great, though the salad serving was small for one. I think it comes with the main dishes. We came across this hotel and restaurant near Europa Park, in a small town, and really enjoyed lunch. The food was great and so was the service. The menu also has explanations in English. Behind the restaurant there's a tiny local farm with ponies, birds, squirrels, chickens and ducks. Those cute ponies were my favorite!
