Landhotel zum Honigdieb

We booked breakfast at the country hotel for Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, before leaving after an overnight stay at the riding stable further along. For €15 per person, it felt like a waste of money, and I can’t recommend it. There was a boiled egg, but it was gone, and nothing was topped up. There were hardly any cold cuts or similar options, and the fruit was canned mandarins. The honey and rolls were fresh, but that didn’t make up for the rest. Maybe it’s fine if you want a minimalist breakfast, but the website gives a completely different impression.

The place turned out to suit my interests almost perfectly, even though it was mostly a coincidence since I hadn’t had much time to look into it. I used to be really into horses and spent lots of time in the equestrian world, and I’m also interested in farming, beekeeping, and related things. I only wish I’d stayed longer. I’d never been here before, but I’ll be back. I’d driven for 12 hours and was incredibly relieved that arriving late wasn’t a problem. I could just collect the keys from the safe, and checked into a tiny single room just before midnight. I’d asked at short notice the previous Sunday about a small room for that same evening through Wednesday, and somehow got lucky. The room is small but has everything I needed: a bed, blanket, shared bathroom, and Wi-Fi for work, all for €25. I can’t complain about that. It’s easy to find, too, with the access road clearly signposted. The hotel stands quite prominently on the main road, but not too prominently.

The receptionist was kind, knew her stuff, and gave us useful answers and tips. We stayed almost two weeks and were very happy with the spacious, comfortable rooms, plus the little kitchenette for making our own meals. Families with small kids have a swing and seesaw right outside. The riding stable is a five-minute drive away, where you can see horses, donkeys, camels, goats, and other animals. There’s also a great farm shop next door. We’d definitely return, and highly recommend it.

We had a spacious apartment over two floors, with plenty of parking. The hotel is on a main road, though the traffic noise didn’t really bother us. It’s a great base for day trips in every direction, right about halfway between Rostock and Stralsund.
