Hôtel Schloss Romrod

Romrod is small and quiet, a nice place for a short visit. From the third floor, the view of the roundabout is lovely. The 900+ years old castle has been turned into a hotel, and it’s been kept in good shape while being modernized. I stayed here on my German friend’s recommendation, and it didn’t disappoint.

The animal habitats that had settled in the castle were kept in mind during the green restoration, which I really liked. I was here for a wedding, and the logistics were handled beautifully. The food and drinks were spot on, with lots of choices for everyone. The restoration itself is amazing, and the modern hotel and event facilities are great too.

The castle is awesome, even though the town itself feels a bit dead. My boyfriend and I stopped here during our road trip through Germany, and it’s an unbeatable venue. The hotel food was at debtor prices. Their own cellar beer was pretty good, but my burger seemed to have a frozen patty. Still, I can’t complain about the price.

Kathi made such a difference for us. We’re American, and having someone who could speak English with us and all our guests was a huge help. She was ready whenever I needed something, both at our wedding tasting and on October 3rd, 2022, when we had our ceremony. She handled everything so well, and honestly, I’m not sure the day would have been a success without her. She was kind, helpful, and accommodating. Kathi, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and please keep being the amazing person you are. You deserve recognition for all that hard work. You’re the reason this is a 4-star rating and not lower. The ceremony was beautiful, and the castle tour was a hit with all our guests. The flower petal shower is highly recommended. The food was absolutely the BEST, honestly Michelin-rated in my book. I loved the tomato cream soup, the steak was so tender, and every dessert was perfect. They were flexible with last-minute changes and decisions.
