Hotel Benther Berg

Friendly staff were always ready to help, and the food at the hotel’s restaurant was excellent, carefully cooked and presented, though a little pricey. Rooms are compact but clean, modern and have nearly everything needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel has over a century of history and sits near Benther Berg park, with Hanover easy to reach by public transport. Its spa has a pool, sauna, hammam and hydromassage bath, included in the stay, but bathrobes cost an extra 5 euros each, the main drawback. A very good choice for a short weekend in the countryside or a quick visit to Hanover if you’d rather avoid the busy city centre. I’d recommend it.

The meal ended on a lovely note with Pear Clafoutis, warm cake, hazelnut cream, pickled pear wedges and walnut ice cream, rich but still refreshing. Before that, the Farmer’s Duck from the Oven came with port wine sauce, cabbage, beetroot cabbage and a soft potato dumpling, all cooked just right and full of flavor. My favorite was the Bisque of Breton Lobster, where the small gamba, port wine reduction, crème fraîche and baked sage came together beautifully. I’d give the whole menu five stars. #bentherberghotel

The service was friendly and efficient. Rooms were modern and clean, and there are beautiful trails nearby for running or hiking.

I spent a week here on a business trip from India to Germany. The sauna is well maintained, and the food and ambience are excellent by European standards. Prices are in line with the market. Getting around by public transport is the drawback, it isn’t easily accessible, so you need your own car to stay here.
