Happinger Hof

We stayed for three nights. The restaurant and beer garden served very good food and drinks, though service in the beer garden was chaotic. Wrong orders came to the table, and used dishes sat around for a long time. The locals we sat with said that happens often. The large hotel is well placed for Rosenheim, the Alps, Chiemsee, and nearby spots. Our room was comfortable, but faced a street that stayed surprisingly busy until late and got busy again early in the morning. It was warm enough that we slept with the windows open, so the road noise was noticeable.

The food was fresh and tasty, with lots of vegetarian choices, and the service was patient and caring. Our room was delightful, with flowers cascading down the windows. The countryside in southern Bavaria feels rejuvenating. I’d recommend staying here and renting a bike in one of the nearby towns to explore the trails and countryside.

Free parking is a real plus, since it’s rare in this region. The hotel’s countryside style fits its setting, and the wooden details in the rooms make them charming. Service is excellent. Air conditioning would be a nice addition in the future, since summers can get really hot.

Friendly staff, tasty food, and excellent value for money in a great location. The portions are very large, but you can ask for a smaller serving. Breakfast was excellent too, with everything you could ask for. The hotel has also appeared in a few episodes of Rosenheim Cops.
