Haus Shiralee

We only stayed two days, but the value for money was top notch. Spacious, practical, and had everything we needed. Definitely recommend it!

In September 2025 we stayed in the “Schwanennest” and “Möwennest” apartments, and their condition fell short of what we expected. In Schwanennest, a loud refrigerator disturbed our sleep. The heating pipes ran through the middle of the rooms, were dusty, and made disruptive noises at night. There was a strong musty smell, the toilet seat was broken, and dust had built up around the bed and on the ceiling light. The step just inside the entrance wasn't lit, making it a trip hazard in the dark. The bathroom mirror was mounted so high that someone about 1.60 m tall could only see themselves from the nose up. During a repair, someone entered while we weren't there and left a window tilted open, which felt unsafe. In Möwennest, the dishwasher racks were heavily rusted, which we saw as a hygiene concern. The toilet paper holder wobbled and stayed unstable despite attempts to fix it. We reported the problems several times, but they weren't all resolved. We were offered a partial refund on the condition that we not post an online review, which we refused. The apartments are very central, but sit in a courtyard and are presumably converted workshops or garages. The website didn't make that clear when booking; knowing that, we would never have booked at such a high price. We're very dissatisfied with the apartments, the service, and how our complaints were handled.

Quiet despite being centrally located, and we felt very comfortable in this charmingly furnished apartment.

The apartment was damp enough that our towels wouldn't dry, either in the bathroom or on the living room drying rack. Water also leaked out of the shower because the silicone seal was coming loose. The outdoor seating area shown in a photo on multiple booking sites wasn't there. Booking.com later removed the photo, despite saying it would be difficult to do, while Expedia still lists the terrace as a highlight. They replied to our question only after our second message. The only staff member we saw on site was a very friendly maintenance technician, but he couldn't really help us. Later, we were offered a “goodwill payment” if we avoided writing a negative review. Since we'd already posted a negative review on Booking.com, they withdrew the offer and we got no refund. The team managing this project should be ashamed of treating guests this way!
