Old Town Apartment

That was a really bad experience.

We only booked one night, which is a shame because the place itself was top-notch. A microwave and either an Italian or filter coffee maker would be useful, though. The hosts were completely discourteous, with lots of rules and demands, and we even had to pay for a coffee capsule. We left everything clean and tidy, but then they accused us of taking cutlery, which we hadn't. The way they treated guests was very aggressive. Why would we want their cutlery? It was embarrassing. Very bad.

The Wi-Fi kept cutting out and was slow enough to be unusable. When it failed in the middle of an important work video call, I had to look for a café in pouring rain to carry on. I contacted the landlord right away, and the response was, "That's not my problem, it's yours." That attitude toward paying guests was outrageous. It was +5°C outside, yet the apartment felt like a refrigerator. Three of the five radiators barely reached 18°C, and the heating switched itself off, so they were cold most of the time. The place was damp and musty, my clothes and belongings started smelling after a few days, and the bathroom towel never dried. Woodlice kept showing up in the bathroom, which only added to the discomfort. The towels provided were yellowed, stained and so worn I couldn't use them, so I had to buy replacements at my own expense. I wasn't reimbursed. There was no shower gel, shampoo, hairdryer or washing machine. The house rules and extra charges felt excessive: check-in was only after 4:00 PM and check-out by 10:00 AM, with a penalty for leaving late. Guests had to take out the trash and wash all the dishes or face a fine. Coffee capsules cost extra, and although there was a kettle, there wasn't even a tea bag. For the price, the living conditions were a disgrace. Between the cold, damp apartment, the rules and fines, and the landlord's dismissive response, the stay was unbearable. This felt like a rip-off, and I expect an explanation and appropriate compensation.

It's quiet and right in the old town, with free parking about a five-minute walk away. The apartment is spacious, very nice and well equipped. Our only issues during the six-day stay were that the towels weren't changed and there were no toiletries.
