Weinhotel Bäder

The village is about 20 minutes from the Rhine, so having a car is useful. There’s just one restaurant within walking distance, though three supermarkets are nearby, and parking was very easy. Staying on this side of the Rhine was cheaper for us. The hotel is right in the middle of town, not in the vineyard setting we’d imagined from the website. We’d misunderstood the photos, so that was on us. Our hosts were very hospitable. We didn’t realize we could take wine from the fridge and pay on an honesty basis until the owner explained it at breakfast the next day, as there wasn’t much English on arrival. We bought some wine, which was very nice, and drank it in the little seating area at the back. It might be worth the hotel offering tours of its vineyard and promoting its wine more. The room was huge and very clean, with a hairdryer, everything else we expected, and a seating area. There was a small balcony facing the main street, but we didn’t hear traffic overnight. Breakfast was plentiful and very good, with the usual bread, meat and cheese plate, plus boiled eggs if you wanted them. The dining room was lovely. We had a very nice stay.
