The facilities were misleading, the service was terrible, and the building and barrel smelled musty and damp and were full of flies. We booked the Barrel for 4 adults because the website suggested it could fit that many, but it can't hold 4 adults, and the barrel itself was full of fruit flies. The facilities also didn't look like the pictures or match the description. The owner wasn't there for check-in and wouldn't let us use the toilet or shower in the main building until he arrived almost four hours later. When we called at 7pm to ask where he was, he said he had an engagement elsewhere, something we'd never been told. He said the key was in the barrel and that we should wait until 10.15pm to use the shared toilet and shower. After several calls to locate the keys and accommodation, we pushed again to use the toilet. Getting to the shared toilet meant going down the steps, around the side of the main building onto the main Mosselle road, and through the main entrance of the wine tasting building. The wet toilet and shower combination was beyond the tasting area and shared with all the wine tasting guests. We couldn't stay after all that, so we left the hotel. The owner hasn't given us a refund or even a gesture of goodwill for what happened.

Our booked apartment had direct, private sauna access, which was exactly why we chose it, and we were travelling with our dog. We had reserved a vacation apartment with a balcony from December 31, 2025, to January 3, 2026. We were told check-in would be available from 1 p.m., but when we arrived right at that time, the doors were locked and we couldn't initially reach the landlord. After several tries, we finally reached someone, who apparently didn't know who we were or which apartment we'd booked. Communication was confusing, split between phone calls and WhatsApp. We were told the cleaning wasn't finished, then after about an hour's wait we learned our apartment had already been rented to someone else, an overbooking. They offered another apartment nearby, but it wasn't nearly as well-equipped and had no sauna. We were told we could use the sauna in the vacation apartment, but that meant driving back and forth, which wasn't an option with our dog. No other solution, such as a different date, was offered. We later wrote asking to be reimbursed at least for our travel expenses, but received no answer. This was very unprofessional and poorly organized, with no customer-oriented handling of the landlord's clear mistake. We can't recommend this accommodation.

Joachim made the boat tour so much fun, guiding us with knowledge, charm, and humor. We got to try some great wines and learned a lot along the way. The selection suited our group perfectly. It was an unforgettable experience at the Schumacher Winery, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommended!
